Windybank Fly Fishing Club is situated close to the small Yorkshire village of Holmfirth near Huddersfield. Set in idylic surroundings this three acre members only water offers all year round fishing using traditional fly fishing techniques. There is excellent provision for bank fishing or shallow wadding in a truly rural settings, being bounded by woodland, farmland and a quiet golfcourse and complimented by abundant wildlife and jovial anglers. Vehicle access is gained by using your own member’s key at the entrance to the property. The water is frequently stocked with excellent specimens of rainbow trout.
Following formation of the club in 1993, membership was opened up to the community, members paying a joining bond and annual fee. Windybank offers some of the best fly fishing in the North at very reasonable cost per year.
Members have oppotunities to participate in recreational angling all year round. The fishing during winter 2006/7 was particularly good. For the more adventurous there are sweepstake matches together with away dates for boat competitions. In building an enjoyable social enviroment, members support working party duties carrying out essential, lightweight maintenance activities both to the property and immediate environment of the water. The commitee, whilst managing the business side of the club are dedicated to maintaining and developing the club that provides the needs of the members.
